Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes are fundamental features of the dental coding profession. They provide consistency in documentation of services performed. Our Dental Coding course expands upon CDT codes by discussing the various categories of service, components of code entries, and how to classify materials used in procedures. We also describe ICD-10-CM codes that are applicable to dentistry and how to review claim rejections and patient benefits.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Identify components of a dental procedure code entry
- Define categories of service and code series
- Recognize CDT definitions, key concepts, and potential clinical scenarios
- Describe how to use dental procedure codes (CDT) and diagnostic codes (ICD)
- Recall how to classify materials used in procedures
